I attended a very packed Dorset Chamber networking lunch at Dudsbury golf course on 16 May. As its mental health awareness week 13-19 May and because of our health and wellbeing training I was asked to talk to those attending about Mental health. I invented a fictitious character called Tom and talked about all of his worries and concerns which were filling up his stress container. We all have a stress container each one is individual and is of a different size. When the container fills up and up, it will eventually spill out over the top. This then shows as our stress signature and can come out in different ways. I then talked about healthy ways to relieve the stress in our lives. This included things we can do at work and home. I gave each person who attended an Ouch guide to looking after you mental health and a stress card. I explained about the #Middaymile which we do every day at Ouch HQ with our four office dogs. I explained how the team at Greendale Construction also do the #Middaymile after they attended mental health first aid training with the Ouch team. Chris Kane from Greendale talked about the benefits of this daily walk for his team. We had a super lunch of salmon, vegetables and potatoes and crumble for pudding. Fantastic event, thank you to the Dorset Chamber team.
