The second incredible charity we’re proud to support through our Camino Frances walk is the Dorset Wildlife Trust (DWT). This leading conservation organisation dedicated to protecting Dorset’s rich natural heritage. Their work ensures that wild spaces remain accessible, thriving, and full of life for generations to come. Read on to discover why we’re hiking the Camino for Dorset’s stunning wildlife.

Spending Time Outdoors is a Necessity
The need to access wilderness and natural environments where we can spend time outside is vital to human well-being. On the 24th of April 1932, hundreds of workers from across the industrial northwest of England took part in a mass trespass of Kinder Scout in the peak district. Born out of the need to escape the rigours of city life, long working hours and unhealthy work practices and environments. The protestors were desperate to gain access to the wild and unspoilt landscape of the peak district.
Thankfully, smog-filled towns and cities in the UK are a thing of the past, we still need to spend time in natural environments. Our increasingly sedentary work/home life and reliance on technology have disconnected many of us from the natural world. Walking and engaging with nature are great ways to offset the negative impacts of modern life.

Why Support the Dorset Wildlife Trust
I believe most people want access to beautiful outdoor spaces and recognise the importance of protecting the environment. That’s why we’re hiking the Camino for Dorset’s stunning wildlife. The Dorset Wildlife Trust helps make this desire possible by providing access to a range of nature reserves and conservation projects. However, to continue their essential work, DWT needs our support. By sponsoring Kirsty and me on our Camino Walk, we can work together to raise the money necessary for the DWT team to continue their vital work.
