Is Emergency First Aid at Work recognised by the HSE?
The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) does not endorse individual training providers. However, employers must ensure that any first-aid training they choose is suitable and meets the requirements of the Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981.

How many first aiders does my business need?
There is no fixed legal number. Employers should carry out a first-aid needs assessment that considers workplace hazards, employee numbers, shift patterns, lone workers and access to emergency medical services.
What is the difference between EFAW and First Aid at Work?
EFAW is a one-day course covering the essential actions needed during common workplace emergencies.
First Aid at Work is a more comprehensive three-day course covering a broader range of injuries and illnesses. It is often more appropriate for higher-risk workplaces.
If you already hold a First Aid at Work certificate that is due to expire, our First Aid at Work Requalification course enables you to renew your qualification.
How long does the course take?
The face-to-face course takes one day.
The blended-learning option consists of two hours of e-learning followed by 3.5 hours of face-to-face practical training.
Can EFAW be completed entirely online?
No. Practical first-aid skills must be demonstrated and assessed in person.
Our blended-learning option allows learners to complete part of the theory online before attending a shorter face-to-face practical session.
How is the course assessed?
Learners complete a multiple-choice examination and practical assessment. The trainer will explain each activity clearly and provide opportunities to practise during the course.
How long is the certificate valid?
The certificate is valid for three years from the date of completion. Learners must complete the appropriate training again before it expires to remain qualified.
